The Dogs Picnic

A bit of fun for today

The Dogs Picnic (a humorous poem by an unknown poet)

The dogs, they held a picnic
They came from near and far,
Some travelled in by aeroplane8
And some, by motor car.

When inside the city gates
They were obliged to look
They had to take their bottoms
And hang them on a hook

In they filed one by one
Mother son and sire
No sooner were they seated
When someone shouted Fire!

Out they rushed all in a heap
They had no time to look
Each grabbed the nearest bottom
From off the nearest hook

And that is why today you’ll see
A dog may leave its bone
To go and smell another’s bum
To see if it’s his own
